ISO 9001:2026 Transition: No Global Deadline Published Yet

ISO 9001:2026 was published on September 16 — the first full revision of the world’s leading quality management standard since 2015. But the global transition deadline did not arrive with it.

According to a September 25 statement from eLeaP, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI) — the body that succeeded the International Accreditation Forum on January 1, 2026 — had not published global transition requirements for ISO 9001:2026 as of September 17. Some national accreditation bodies have set their own dates, which means the applicable timetable may vary by certification body and accreditation arrangement.

The widely cited three-year window to September 2029 is, in eLeaP president Don Weobong’s words, “a reasonable planning assumption” — not a universal deadline. Organizations are advised to get written confirmation of the date that applies to their own certificate from their certification body.
