ISO 9001:2026 Officially Published — First Full Revision in Eleven Years
ISO has published ISO 9001:2026 on September 16, 2026 — the first full revision of the world’s most widely adopted quality management standard since ISO 9001:2015. The standard is used by more than one million organizations worldwide.
What is confirmed so far:
- The Harmonized Structure clause framework (Clauses 4–10) remains intact. The revision is targeted and practical — not a rebuild of the management system.
- ISO itself does not set certification transition periods. Those arrangements are established through the accreditation and certification system.
- As of mid-September 2026, the new global accreditation body, Global ACI, had not yet published global transition requirements. A three-year window to September 2029 is widely reported as a reasonable planning assumption — but it is not yet a universal deadline. Organizations should confirm the dates that apply to their own certificates in writing with their certification body.
