Casablanca’s Municipal Abattoirs Cut Lost Days from 694 to 231 After ISO 45001 Certification

Casablanca Prestations, the company running Casablanca’s municipal slaughterhouses, has secured certification to ISO 45001:2018, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, in a development reported on 23 October 2026. Meeting the standard’s requirements involved practical changes on site, including protective barriers, repair work, installed safety equipment and personal protective equipment for staff, as well as evacuation drills and trained first-aiders. On protective equipment alone, the company spent a net 208,829 dirham. The results appear in its performance figures: compliance with regulatory requirements reached 95.1 per cent, 90.4 per cent of internal safety inspections had been carried out as of August, and all nine decisions of the workplace hygiene committee were fully implemented. Most strikingly, days lost to workplace accidents dropped from 694 to 231, while the measured accident severity rate fell from 1.20 to 0.40.
